Day One of the State Track Meet saw Gators participating in two events. Tyler Williams '19 started the day off for the Gators placing second in his heat of the 400M and fourth overall with a time of 49.85. This will qualify him for Finals on Saturday (11:53am). As only 9 runners qualify for finals, Williams just needs to finish that race to earn a medal. Of note, Williams was the only freshman (and one of two underclassmen) to qualify for State in this event.
Shortly after Williams cleared the track, the girls 4X800 took their turn. Anna Nelson '17, Veronica Petrillo '18, Emma Abernethy '17 and Savannah Martin '18 dropped 9 seconds off their eight day old school record to finish in 9:42.64. This time was good enough for eighth place and a spot on the medal stand.
After Thursday, the Gators are two for two in the events for which they qualified. Today, Garrett Martin '18 high jumps at 1:30pm. He currently is the 4 seed with a jump of 6'05.
